I'm wondering whether the choice of university subjects may be relevant too. For instance, in finance people tend to have mathematical, science or engineering degrees. I don't know the figures but my guess is that women dominate the arts subjects which may not help their business careers very much. It is well documented that women are better than men at communications and this has actually been linked to brain structure.
